Introduction
Overview
The Pipeline Process Lab (PPL) was established in 2008 in association with CUP Beijing, on the basis of the process laboratory, pipeline simulation laboratory and chemical laboratory of the Pipeline Technology Research Center of PetroChina (PTRCP) and the sub-laboratories of flow assurance, pipeline simulation and pipeline chemical additives under the Key Laboratory of Oil & Gas Storage and Transportation of CNPC. Founded in 1985, the former Process Laboratory of PTRCP started process study in the 1970s.
Orientation: Building a core base for carrying out activities of high-level R & D of pipeline storage and transportation processes, gathering and training high-caliber technological talents, making high-level academic exchanges and promoting the transformation of technological achievements, becoming a domestic window for foreign exchanges and cooperation in the technical field of the discipline, keeping ahead of other domestic laboratories, and marching towards advanced international standards in an overall and sustained manner.
Key tasks: Making theoretical innovation in oil & gas storage and transportation process study, reserving and applying relevant technologies, and preferentially resolving major technical and engineering problems related to flow safety, drag reduction and pour point depression, and pipeline transportation efficiency.
PPL plays a global leading role in research findings of pipeline drag reducers and is up to advanced international standards in terms of pipeline flow assurance.
Staff
PPL has a director, two deputy directors (one from CUP and CPPC each), 61 researchers, 11 professor-level senior engineers (professors), 20 senior engineers (associate professors), three experts enjoying government allowances, three senior technical experts of CNPC, four technical experts and eight academic leaders of PTRCP.
Operation
Based on CPPC and CPC, led by PTRCP, PPL conducts management by level and practices the system of laboratory director responsibility. PPL has worked out the laboratory management measures, duties of all branches, as well as the measures for daily management of the laboratory and the measures management of instruments and equipment.
PPL has four sub-laboratories, including the pipeline flow assurance sub-laboratory, pipeline simulation sub-laboratory and pipeline chemical additives sub-laboratory based on CPPC, and the complex fluid and urban gas transportation sub-laboratory based on CUP Beijing.
Iconic equipments
High-pressure solid-phase deposition loop system
High-pressure solid-phase deposition loop system is mainly used for experimental studies of hydrate slurry flow law. evaluation of the hydrate polymerization inhibitor, experanental research of high-pressure multiphase wax deposition. The system is of national first-class level and international leading level under the same conditions. It is an important experimental apparatus to carry out deepwater flow studies.
Automatic laboratory synthesis reaction system
Fully automated laboratory synthesis reaction system is mainly used for the research and development of the chemical compound, especially applied for the complex and time-consuming synthesis reaction. which can real-time display the changing curves of key substances in the reactor. It has a wide range of uses in the field of reaction thermodynamics, kinetics and production safety evaluation. The whole set of equipments has reached the international advanced level.
AGES-G2 rheometer
ARES-G2 rheometer is a brand new. revolutionary and powerful rheological testing system, which is currently the worltfs most advanced rheological test instrument. It can be used to test the flow and deformation condition of all materials from the water to steel. Now there is only about ten sets or so.
